An effective upgrade for any basic AR-15.
I am always on the lookout for high-quality upgrades for my AR-15s. One area that always seems to need improvement is the standard trigger. While functional and reliable, there is just way, way too much take-up for my taste. There are a number of excellent aftermarket triggers available, but many are quite expensive, which presents a bit of a problem for those of us who own a number of AR-15 lowers.
Fortunately, Jard, Inc. of Sheldon, IA, makes an AR-15 trigger that is both excellent and affordable. (Actually, JARD makes triggers for a wide variety of rifles; their other products deserve a look as well.) For your AR-15, you can get get a single-stage (adjustable or fixed) or a two-stage version. As I intended to use this trigger in a lower for my 6.8 SPC, I chose the single-stage adjustable.
The product comes with everything you need for installation, right down to a small tube of thread-locking goop for securing the adjustment screws once you have them set where you want. The installation itself, while straightforward, is a bit involved, but probably well within the abilities of anyone reading this article. There are also a couple of good YouTube videos explaining the installation in detail. Once installed, it’s a good idea to let it sit for a day so the thread-lock can set.
My JARD performs beautifully. Take-up is minimal to non-existent, the pull is smooth and the release crisp. Strikes are firm and consistent. I definitely can recommend JARD for an inexpensive way to upgrade your AR-15.
